Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong officially launched Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040
Last week in Jakarta, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong officially launched Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, a report to the Australian Government by Nicholas Moore AO, Special Envoy to Southeast Asia.
The report highlights the strategy that sets out a practical pathway to increase two-way trade and investment between Australia and ASEAN by raising awareness, removing blockages, building capacity and deepening investment in 10 key sectors with the most potential for economic growth – agriculture and food; resources; green energy transition; infrastructure; education and skills; visitor economy; healthcare; digital economy, professional and financial services; and creative industries.
The IABC was honoured to attend the launching business reception organised by Austrade Indonesia, which was also attended by Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) leadership and Chairman Arsjad Rasjid, alongside other prominent Indonesian and Australian business figures. We are confident that the recommendations presented in the report will strengthen the economic ties between Australia and ASEAN.
